FAA and IR Update

The FAA returns a hefty percentage of the Aircraft Registration Applications it receives because of errors or omissions on the form.  When completing an Aircraft Registration Application please keep in mind this checklist:

(1) Properly describe the aircraft by N-number, manufacturer and model, and manufacturer’s serial number;

(2) Mark the Type of Registration;

(3) Clearly print or type the name of the applicant;

(4) Show a physical address (in addition to a Post Office Box, if one is used);

(5) Type or print the name of the signer beneath his/her signature

(6)  Include a title that is consistent with the Type of Registration;

(7) Do not use whiteout or writeovers;

If a mistake is made, draw one line through the incorrect data and insert the correct data.  (The FAA has to be able to see the original data or the application will be rejected.)

(8) A $5.00 registration fee must accompany each registration application; and

(9) Retain the pink copy of the registration application for domestic operation of the aircraft while the FAA processes the evidence of ownership and registration application.
